It has been my pleasure to serve the people of Harris County for the past 15 years as a Criminal District Court Judge.
 
I preside in felony cases ranging from murder and sexual abuse of children to fraudulent use of credit cards, theft and graffiti in schools. Drug charges vary from multi-kilo cases, involving drugs worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, to possession of less than a gram. In every case, it is my job to be fair.
 
Along with law enforcement and others in criminal justice, I play an important role in making our community safer. We want Harris County to be a great place for people to live and work and for our children to grow up.
 
This is done in two ways--by giving long prison sentences to those who deserve them, and by working to rehabilitate non-violent offenders who often are young, addicted to drugs, or mentally ill. The more closely a judge works with a probationer, the more likely he is to succeed.
